Leuven

Leuven is a dynamic, vibrant city in the center of Belgium. Although Leuven has a reputation as a centre of thought, there is more to it than just a university. Leuven is a typical university town with more than 90,000 inhabitants. If we add to this the 42,000 students, it should come as no surprise that the streets are filled with young faces and that the city lives at a student’s rhythm. The sparkling student life adds a young and dynamic touch to the historic university and town buildings.

Leuven also benefits from the unique position of Belgium on the European continent. It is only 20 minutes drive from Brussels, which is not only the capital of Belgium and the European Union but also houses the headquarters of NATO and the European headquarters of many multinational companies and organizations.

While Dutch is the native language in Leuven, many Flemish people have a good command of foreign languages. Leuven also offers opportunities for people to expand their language skills: Group T’s language center ACE offers courses in 8 different languages. The central geographical position of Belgium and a dense network of roads, railways and air traffic routes also provide easy access to other European cities such as London, Amsterdam, Cologne or Paris.
