Growing towards Independence

Lu Lu

“My very first impressions of Leuven are unforgettable," recalls Lu Lu. "Narrow streets, tidy houses on each side, but also huge buses as well as the bus drivers’ amazing driving skills. My very first days in the city have proved to be the happiest and at the same time hardest ever since."

The comfort of team work
"I vividly remember the first dinner we prepared for ourselves, boiled spaghetti and raw carrots. Indeed, the most important lesson I learned during my time at Group T was to look after myself. Every time I went home, my family praised me for becoming more and more independent. Group T offered a warm environment full of freedom and friends. The teams which were set up for the practical sessions formed ideal surroundings to become independent individuals and at the same time avoid isolation and ignorance.”

Change in major
“At Group T, you can gain lots of practical knowledge and information. This becomes all the more clear when you take on your first job. As a freshman at Beijing Jiaotong University, my major was electromechanical engineering. Once at Group T, I chose the major OT, the only real reason being that it was offered in English. But as it turned out, I loved it."

Via Sweden back to China
"After studying circuit design at KTH Sweden for another two years, I am now working as a hardware programmer in an IC design company in Wuxi, China. Irrelevant of what I studied at KTH or what I experienced in Wuxi, I feel that what I learnt at Group T was very useful and gave me a head start.”
