Group T chemical engineers Lieve Michiels and Johan De Clippeleir started their professional career with LyondellBasell, one of the world's largest polymers, chemicals, and fuels companies. First with a technical job, then, step by step, climbing the ladder to become managers.
Building on experience
"The machine experience on the work floor from the early days and a solid technological background kept coming in handy in contacts with business customers and labs," says Lieve. "Also, the importance of intense contacts with the industry during the engineering education cannot be underestimated."
In-company option
Both former students are much appreciated guest lecturers at Group T: Johan in the 'reology' classes and Lieve for New Material Design. The two-year master formula, with an in-company path of two semesters, seems particularly interesting to them, since it fully integrates the entrepreneurs in the curriculum.
