The 2011 Beijing CDIO Regional Conference on May 8 to 11, 2011 offers opportunities to learn about CDIO and to discuss its implementation in new locations. The conference theme is Understanding and Implementing the CDIO Model in Engineering Education Reform to Better Prepare Students for Entering the Engineering Work Force.
Johan De Graeve, Group T's President and Co-chair Holder of the UNESCO Chair on Cooperation between Higher Engineering Education and Industries with an Honorary Doctorate from Beijing Jiaotong University, held the keynote speech on Sunday, May 8, 2011.
His speech—Engineering, Connecting Cosmos and Consciousness—compared the 5E-model, his doctoral research on engineering education, to the CDIO-premises, leading both to the principles of Cosmos and Consciousness.
Following, president De Graeve gave the floor to 5 students from the Beijing Jiaoting International Class, a collaboration of BJTU and Group T. They communicated their view on and experiences with the CDIO/5 E-model as they had experienced it in real life, in an educational setting.
