Event: Ethics in Professional Communication

Numerous posters dealing with Ethics in Professional Communication are on show in the Vesalius Campus atrium January 14 to 19. The poster session is part of the course Aspects of Professional Communication for students of the 1st program stage of the engineering bachelor.

For the posters, students had to search for a professional, ethical situation in which communication choices come under focus. Preferably a real-life engineering scenario, but they also had the freedom to explore other avenues. The posters present students' attempts to analyze and evaluate these situations, by trying out some different ethical 'tools' seen in class.

Some of the posters' headings:

  • Make a life to save a life?
  • Animal testing is (not) a crime.
  • Boss's orders, should they always be fulfilled?
  • The high cost of low price.
  • The law versus justice.
  • Ford Pinto: safety doesn't tell.
  • Do we have the right to die?
  • The danger of social media network sites.
