Exhibition: With Kind Regards

May 30 to June 1 and June 6 to 10, 2011

During the past Artefact Festival at STUK (February 2011), video artists Herman Asselberghs and Fairuz showed P.S. Via several data carriers they construed a tangible data cloud that mapped the framework of our current laptop culture in a poetic way. The past few months, the two artists have been expanding the data cloud in collaboration with Group T students (as part of the latter's Engineering Experience II). The result of this collaboration will be on show during the exhibition With Kind Regards.

With Kind Regards

The Group T students delivered new visions and perspectives on the use and workings of mobile computers through interviews with laptop users, images, graphic and cartographic data, historical overviews, genealogies, statistics... In analogy with the work by Asselberghs and Fairuz on display during Artefact, these data took on the fom of another data cloud. During the exhibit at Group T you will not only be able to see this new data cloud, but also the video letter Dear Steve, written by Herman Asselberghs as a precursor to P.S.

Engineering Experience II

Engineering Experiences (EEs) are cross-professional learning experiences during which the students carry out challenging assignments in team. The idea is to bring them into contact with the engineering praxis from an early stage. For EE2—the 2nd project in the 1st program stage of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering—5 project groups chose to carry out their project with Asselberghs and Fairuz.
