Group T Offers Alternatives at Car-free Sunday

Car-free Sunday in Leuven

Downtown Leuven will be car-free on Sunday, June 28. It won't just be a day without cars, the city's streets and squares will be buzzing with all kinds of initiatives for pedestrians and cyclists and information on eco-friendly alternatives to traditional cars.

A car? An e-car!
Group T-students will present 2 environmentally friendly old-timer cars on Martelarenplein (booth 52). The first one has a multi-point  fuel-injection system that allows it to use E0 (petrol), E85 (85% ethanol, 15% petrol), or any mixture of these. This drastically lowers the emission of harmful substances. The second car can be used to drive around Zone 50 on only electricity, leaving no traces, nor sound.

A scooter? An e-scooter!
Another Group T product on show, by alumni this time, will be the e-scooter, an electrically driven vehicle allowing you to drive independently for 110 km at 45 km/h. At only 50 euro per 10,000 km as far as energy is concerned, a real steal.

Program
The Sustainable Leuven Network (Netwerk Duurzaam Leuven) called on all Leuven associations, committees, and neighborhood organizations to participate actively in the happening on Sunday. The result is a program with fun for everyone: circus in the city park, prairie schooner rides, a barefoot trail, a book market, dance demo's, etc.
