From June 13 to 15, Group T participated, as the only Belgian higher education institution, in the International Education Expo in Beijing. More than 400 national and international education institutions and organizations from 31 countries were present.
Delegation
Group T was there with a four-headed delegation: Professors Guido Vercammen and Yves Persoons, and, from the Confucius Institute at Group T, Prof. Xiao Guiping and Ms. Zou Wei. They were supported locally by Prof. Cha Jianzhong of Beijing Jiaotong University and also Board member at Group T, and Prof. Hengjun Zhu, Dean of the Confucius Institute.
Alumni
Group T brought along a strong trump card: the alumni book with data, the career course, and testimonials of the more than 200 Chinese students who already graduated from Group T as an engineer. Every fair day, there were also Chinese alumni present at the stand, among whom Hu Songtao, president of the Group T -China-Academic Alumni Alliance.
Debut
From recent statistics it appears that almost 200,000 Chinese youngsters go abroad to study; an evolution that Group T has been anticipating for some time already by entering into agreements with partner universities for student and faculty exchanges. By participating in the Education Expo in Beijing, Group T is taking a step towards the greater public for the first time. A first, not only for the university college, but also for Flanders and Belgium.
