A full day
The day set out with a presentation of the different programs Group T organizes and the international collaboration with Asia. Following, the delegation was officially received at the Leuven city hall by Mayor Louis Tobback and was given a guided tour of the city. To round off, Dr. Tej Bunnag gave a lecture on the accomplishments of the world's longest reigning souvereign: His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
A strong philosophy
‘Bhumibol’ literally means ‘strength of the land’. That is exactly what the Thai king has been aiming for over the past 6 decades. The ‘philosophy of sufficiency economy’ takes center stage in his policies. It is based on 'the importance of basics, sustainability, a step-by-step approach, self-reliance, having enough to live and to eat, moderation, rationality and immunity from external shocks'.
Alliances in the region
Group T has been active in Thailand since 2000 via educational UNESCO projects. Apart from that, the university college entered into 10 partnership agreements with Thai universities, and also with universities in Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and the province Yunnan in Southern China.
