After months of preparations the Umicar Inspire is on its way to the 10th edition of the World Solar Challenge. Wrapped securely, the solar car left Zaventem on August 31 for a 16,000 km-long trip to Darwin, Australia.
The Solar Team leaves for Darwin on September 10, arriving 2 days later. The team and the car will be united on September 14.
The World Solar Challenge is the unofficial world championship for solar cars. From October 25 to 31, 38 cars will race from Darwin to Adelaide, powered only by the sun's energy. The Solar Team came in 2nd in the 2007 race.
