On Gaps and Silent Documents

Artefact, the annual festival for Media and Arts at STUK and surroundings, takes place February 9 to 14. This year's theme is: On Gaps and Silent Documents. Group T hosts one of the festival's installations: Default to public: Tweetleak & Tweetscreen by the German artist Jens Wunderling.
Wunderling starts from Twitter messages, the so-called Tweets. Tweetleak prints the messages that are posted in the area onto stickers; at the same time the Tweetscreen projects them onto the window of Vesalius Campus. The artist forces us to consider privacy-issues and the loss of control over our own data.
Group T entered into a partnership with STUK in 2008. All students can use their STUK membership card to receive discounts on performances. Students from the Leuven Engineering College created a work of art with the French media artist Julien Maire for the 2009 Artefact Festival.
Artefact is an initiative of the Province of Flemish-Brabant in collaboration with STUK Arts Center. It programs performances, exhibitions, conferences, and music all linked to old and new media. For the full program: http://www.artefact-festival.be/.
