The 2009-2010 academic year was opened officially on Monday, September 28, 2009.
Following the opening speech of General Manager Arthur D'Huys, Culture Coordinator Jan Jaspers introduced the Houthandel Antwerpen.
Wind instrument quintet Houthandel Antwerpen won the 2009 Gouden Vleugels, the award for the country's most promising debutant ensemble. The 5 debutants want to add new meaning to the concept of a classical concert.
They certainly managed to do so during the opening event, paying a lot of attention to verbal and visual aspects. A classical repertoire was interspersed with text, images, and a choreography. A true bombardment for the senses.
After the show, students and staff were treated to a reception in the atrium.
