Pieter Uytterhoeven, Flemish Minister Patricia Ceyssens , Dean Luc Geurts and Pieter Vandermeulen
Pieter Uytterhoeven and Pieter Vandermeulen, two Electromechanical Engineering Group T-engineers, completed their company project at the non-profit Cosmos in Anderlecht during the past academic year. November 23, they were awarded the 2007 Cera Award for their commitment and the quality of their work.
Cosmos, a local service center, is based in a parish center dating back to the 70's. The non-profit noted that a number of rooms weren't used efficiently and had to deal with a sky-high energy bill.
Both Pieters set out to work and drew up a space- and an energy-analysis. The space-analysis resulted in a number of suggestions for rearranging the rooms. These will soon be developed by an architect. The rearrangement will up the profitability, not only financially, but also in terms of access and customer-friendliness.
The energy-analysis mapped the service center's energy consumption in detail. Cosmos received an overview of short- and long-term energy-saving measures and the investments needed to implement them. The payback period in relation to the thermal improvements was explained and the non-profit received support in requesting subsidies to finance the alterations.
The people at Cosmos were delighted about the work done for them. The Cera Award members of the jury were not only impressed by Pieter and Pieter's project, but also by their communicative and social skills.
