On December 11, over 700 foreign guests assembled in the Great Hall of the People on Beijing's Tian'anmen square for the second Confucius Institute Conference.

The conference was opened by Mrs. Chen Zhili, State Councillor, and Mr. Zhou Ji, the Minister of Education. Afterwards, the results from all Confucius Institutes around the world were presented at an exhibit.

In the afternoon, several foreign educational institutes, including Group T, signed the contract with Confucius Institute Headquarters towards the establishment of a local Confucius Institute.

The following days, the Directors of the various Confucius Institutes participated in a number of workshops to exchange experiences and launch new ideas.
