Towards the end of 2007, Group T's Solar Team challenged high schools across the country to participate in the Solar Olympics. The aim was to design and build a gadet completely driven by solar energy.
100 schools entered the competition, 30 were selected. Each team received a solar panel and a budget to create their gadget, supported by a member of the Solar Team. Their teachers received didactic materials to integrate the theme of 'sustainable energy' into their classes.
The teams will present their gadgets during the finals at Vesalius Campus on Saturday, April 12 between 12:00 and 17:00. A jury will award the Technology Prize to the most inventive design, the Business Prize to the most commercial product, and the Creativity Prize to the most original one. Each prize represents 500 euro. At the same time, the general public will be able to vote and so decide which team will receive the Public Prize, a hot air-balloon trip.
