The Review starts off on Friday with a conference on the theme ‘Environment-friendly Transport Technology’. The program of the conference, which is open to the general public, runs as follows:

- 12:00 - M. Goelke (Altair - DE) – Structural Optimization In The CAE Design Process
- 14:30 - P. Van Den Bossche (VUB - BE) – Electrically Propelled Vehicles: The Way To Sustainable Mobility
- 15:30 - A. Dijkhuizen (Toyota - BE) – Toyota Environmental Direction For Research & Development
- 16:30 - E.D. van Grondelle (TU Delft - NL) – c,mm,n: an Open Source Sustainable Car
- 17:15 - A. Jaffe / R. Allen (MIT - USA) – General Introduction To Vehicle Design Summit
- 18:15 - Official Opening Critical Design Review
On Saturday and Sunday the project’s global state of affairs will be discussed. The teams will present their work and give and receive feedback, allowing all topics to be mutually fine-tuned.
VDS gathers over 30 teams from around the world-one of them being a Group T-team. A total of 500 engineering students are currently working on the car of the future: the Vision, a 1.2 liter/100 km plug-in hybrid car. The Vision is expected to revolutionize the transport sector.
