This project develops a web platform with interdisciplinary, industrial case studies for the Electromechanical Engineering Program. The cases not only illustrate the industrial applicability of the various course units, but also provide an understanding of the industrial decision-making process. They also stimulate the ability to recognize and acknowledge the connections and trade-offs between the different professional domains.

After scrutinizing the available cases in cooperation with the relevant industries, multidisciplinary digital teaching material is developed that is made available to the engineering programs via a web-based platform. This web platform not only offers flexible access to the cases, but also supports interaction between students, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

Development of an Innovative Platform and Measuring Tool for the Advancement of the Correct Use of Online Resources by Students and Teachers.

In this project, a platform is developed that guides students in acquiring efficient and effective online search strategies. The starting point in the platform development is that (1) students already have search routines and that a suitable pedagogical approach must make use of this, and (2) the student population is differentiated, not only in terms of study and studying characteristics but also insofar as ICT skills are concerned. This background is charted and the development of the platform builds on it.

The platform must be usable in a variety of programs across the association in classes and other activities that require the use of online sources (specific class assignments, papers, bachelor and master tests, use of the library, etc.).

Guided Self-study Package for Intelligent Electrical Energy Systems. Consolidation Project of: Lab Synergy-intelligent Electrical Energy Systems

  • Project partners: KA.HO. Sint-Lieven, K.H.B.O., K.H. Kempen, K.H. Limburg, K.U.Leuven, Hogeschool Wetenschap en Kunst

In a previous project, a virtual shared course unit on intelligent electrical energy systems was set up allowing master students from all electrical engineering programs to make optimal use of the available lab infrastructure. The new consolidation project seeks to make this virtual course unit available to students who didn't follow a standard preliminary training (bachelor) but a different study path with PAC/PAQ's, examination contracts, etc.

Through an adjusted path with built-in touchstones the student is guided to the required starting level. In accordance with the concept of guided self-study and student-centered education, the student with his/her specific and various characteristics is at the center of things and the learning environment is adjusted to his/her needs. Also, attention is given to supportive, activating forms of learning.
