Zero-waste manufacturing can only be achieved through continuous monitoring of product and process quality. Available expertise covers Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), spare parts management, and dimensional quality control. Over the past few years, extensive expertise has been built regarding the use of industrial Computed Tomography for dimensional quality control applications. Whereas products with complex internal structures can today be made using advanced production techniques, such as additive manufacturing, verifying their dimensional accuracy remains challenging since these features cannot be reached by conventional tactile or optical probes. Industrial Computer Tomography (CT) can provide a solution by x-raying the product at hand in order to digitize it in three dimensions.
