The Confucius Institute at Group T is part of a world-wide network of organizations aimed at internationally promoting the Chinese language and culture.
The headquarters of the Confucius Institutes, also known as Hanban, is situated in Beijing and is under the Office of Chinese Language Council International.
The Confucius Institute can be compared to the Goethe Institut of Germany, Alliance Francaise, or the British Council. However, where these took decades to establish their local divisions, Hanban has opened hundreds of institutes on all continents since 2004.
The Confucius Institute at Group T is the first Confucius Institute in Flanders.
