Lecture on Efficient Communication with China

Abstract image

Chinese companies want to invest in Belgium. A considerable Chinese student population studies at Belgian universities. China is becoming part of the Belgian's daily lives; think only of the Europalia festival on China all over Belgium, and the recent Expo in Shanghai.

It is time to anticipate and to try to better understand this vast country. But communicating with a culture that is in many ways far removed from Western habits requires more than learning the language.

Lecture

On May 3, 2011 Wim Polet, Director of the Confucius Institute at Group T lectured on Chinese current events, analyzed Chinese habits and symbols, and explained how to recognize and deal with specific etiquette. The audience was made up of Belgians and was therefore conducted in Dutch.

Partner

The lecture came about in cooperation with the Oost-Brabant section of Vormingplus, a Flemish training center for adults: www.vormingplusoostbrabant.be (Dutch-language site).
