December 18-20, 2007, Group T and Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University co-organized an international symposium on the occasion of the foundation of the Group T-Greater Mekong Subregion-Academic Alumni Alliance (GT-GMS-AAA) in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Keynote speeches were delivered by Mr. Sulak Sivaraksa, publisher and social critic; Dr. Krasae Chanawongse, Former Minister of University Affairs and Foreign Affairs; and Dr. Tong-In Wongsothorn, Ambassador for University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific, and Advisor to the Minister of Education.

The symposium was attended by leaders and senior officers from participating universities, Group T-alumni from the region, representatives from the Embassies of GMS-countries in Bangkok, UNESCO Bangkok, and SEAMEO Secretariat.

On December 20 the memorandum on GT-GMS-AAA was signed by the alumni, GMS universities, and Group T.
