Serge de Gheldere
The ‘former future president of America’ - Al Gore - will set the political agenda for the years to come. His film “An Inconvenient Truth,” about the disaster of global warming, turned out to be one of the most influential films ever. But that’s not only Al Gore’s doing: about 200 professionals went to Nashville in 2006 for a three-day training course to become a global warming and climate ambassador. One of these ambassadors is part-time GROUP T professor and alumnus (1992) Serge de Gheldere. After his engineering studies and another master degree in polymers and composite engineering, he began working as a product developer with Baxter. Here his interest in ecological design and sustainability began to show. But Serge wants to push the edge of this awareness for ecological issues (e.g. global warming) and put ‘natural capitalism’ into action. This natural capitalism holds a very challenging, but positive message for future engineers: let’s design better products with less energy-waste and fewer materials.
