Target group and requirements
The English level 6 course is open to everyone who has reached the age of 16. You have to sit a level test in order to go to level 6.
Course contents
In this course you intensively practice speaking English with greater fluency and self-assurance. You already have an adequate vocabulary and a decent foundation in grammar, but you want a more fluent command with fewer hesitations. You’ll mainly acquire new colloquialisms: expressions and phrasings that make the conversation smoother. You’ll review grammar as required for the specific speaking situations. Every now and then there is also some reading and writing. Furthermore, you learn how you can enrich your English with a modern explanatory dictionary.
Among other things you’ll learn are:
- using subtleties when speaking about experiences, recommendations and disappointments
- explaining your decisions but also talking about doubts and missed opportunities
- telling a story in a captivating way, but also reacting to a story, with enthusiasm or suspicion
- catching up with old friends, including gossiping
- complaining about problems but also looking for solutions and formulating suggestions, dreams, plans and ambitions
Work formats
Everyone is constantly active and given the opportunity to speak as much as possible in small groups of 12 to 15 students. The atmosphere is relaxed but focused. We listen regularly to real-life conversations between native speakers. Usually you work with 1 to 3 others on concrete speaking tasks. Role-plays and appropriate games provide opportunities for extra practice. The teacher introduces, listens, assists where necessary and provides feedback. Limited home assignments help you process or prepare tasks. The teacher offers additional individual materials when necessary.
