Course content
‘Vantage’ or level 7 is the level of the extended linguistic self-reliance. The language user is able to communicate adequately and fluently. His linguistic usage is rich and balanced. During this course, the listening and speaking skills are being further explored. The student who starts in this level has already obtained a solid grammatical and lexical base. You are able to communicate fluently and spontaneously, in such a way that you can communicate effortlessly with a native speaker. You speak about a wide range of (complex) subjects in an accurate and adequate way. We spend a lot of time on practicing vocabulary.

Topics covered include:
  • Current events and news
  • Movies (Spanish and Latin American movies)
  • Eating & drinking and eating habits
  • Housing problems
  • Making preparations for holidays
  • Social, political and economic issues
  • Social integration of an individual
  • Description of characters
  • The importance of education

Work formats
The class is a virtual reality in which you are immersed in Spanish images and sounds from newscasts, weather reports, TV programs and radio programs about current and ‘human interest’ topics, advertising spots and fragments from Spanish audio books and movies.
You get involved in realistic discussions or debates, you try to persuade the others about your point of view, you relate or report it. You also take the role of presenter and you give a demonstration or presentation on where your interests are or what lies close to your heart. The teacher coaches and provides you with in-depth feedback during all these activities. We often work with internet and we use laptops in the classroom to look for information and to discuss what we found.

Course materials
This course uses authentic listening materials that fit in with your interests and with current events. In each lesson you will be given loose-leaf task sheets with new vocabulary and we offer you exercises via our online learning platform ‘Toledo’. All the video and audio fragments, wordlists and newspaper articles can also be found on Toledo.
